BlkSuitCropWho Am I ?

I am an opinionated introvert. I am a dreamer and a doer, an autodidact. I am pragmatic, yet idealistic. As a child of the urban environment, I was exposed to everything the inner city had to offer, yet my first toys were books. Growing up in New York City, different ideals, cultures, and points of views ruled the day. Being submerged in such a diverse environment helped me to decipher both the language of the C.E.O and criminal. More often than not, those languages are only separated by semantics and body language.

Why “The Introspective?”

The Introspective is a point of view, it’s seeing things from the inside, and peeling back the layers below the surface. Our hopes, dreams, fears, insecurities, goals, emotions, self-imposed limits, and self-determination all come from within. The answers that we seek are already inside of us, but sometimes we just forget where to look. On a lighter note, I also thought that “The Introspective” sounded like a cool T.V. show (just putting that out there).

Why Am I here?

Don’t we all wish we had the answer to that question? If you know the answer, please slide the cheat sheet under your desk (thank you). The less philosophical answer can be summed up by the first adjective that I used to describe myself, which is opinionated. Although this blog is called The Introspective, I would also like to start a dialogue. I hope to inspire such a dialogue by creating content interesting enough to warrant intelligent discussion. At the very least, I hope to make your meat loaf taste more like pot roast, or give you a different spin on the same old thing. Ultimately, I am here because you are here too.

Why Sports and Why Should You Care?

Sports and life are interwoven together and have many parallels. In sports as in life, time is always against us and we are always racing against it. At least in sports you actually know how much time you have left, which is a stark contrast to life. During the time we are allotted, we have to perform a series of tasks perfectly in order to get to next level, or before our time is up. In sports as in life, making the right move at the wrong time is not advantageous. Sports and life are about preparation, timing, and a little bit of luck. Both sports and life are unscripted theater where the underdog story, and Greek tragedy exist on the same plane (mostly in the span of sixty minutes). How’s that for instant gratification?

And Who Made You The Expert?

I did. Although I was blessed with some athleticism, I was under weight and undersized so I had to use my mind in order to compensate for what I lacked in physical stature. I quickly realized that I was competitive, and preferred winning to losing. I also understood the value of the competitive experience and how I could use that experience to better myself. Sports requires split second analysis and decision-making. In order to succeed in sports you must learn from previous mistakes (or losses) without letting those mistakes paralyze you from taking action. That’s a philosophy that you can apply to any situation. Am I an expert on life? Nope, but I live, learn and try to get better with each day.

My Likes

Simply put, I like people. Better yet, I like unconventional people. People who think outside the box, mavericks, dreamers, bold, colorful people. I like stories, and who better to live and tell stories than people. I like sports, movies, music, art, and books too. I also like fashion, food, spring, summer, and fall.

My Dislikes

I’m not going there. I won’t speak about what I dislike so that I won’t draw my dislikes to me. “Speak of the devil, and the devil will appear.” No thank you.

Welcome

Thank you for coming. You don’t need a number, appointment, or reservation, just come as you are. Wipe your feet off at the door and come on in, you are welcome here. If something that you read here stirs something inside you, then feel free to voice your opinion. I enjoy sharp wit, banter, and a point of view that is not my own.
